Assalaamo Alaikum and Jazaa Kaa Allah for your interest. The lady God Chooses for me will get total, unconditional, fully committed, and completely faithful love from me, and will have similar love in return for me. I am very sincere, straight forward, honest, and trusting person; very much God-fearing but always with a very firm belief in His Blessings and Mercy. I abide by very strong family values. God Has Blessed me greatly that my faith in God, Islam, Teachings of Islam, and the Laws of Islam has never shaken even an iota. Every time I had to face a major problem in life, with the Blessings of God, I came out of it with strengthened faith. I am weak in the sense that I am not a good practicing Muslim. May God Give me the strength in this regard as well. AAMEEN. I believe it’s a good idea to begin with the most important aspects of my being, so I’ll begin with what I value most. First and foremost, I am a Muslim, one who (at least attempts to) submit his whole being to Allah (SWT). In particular, I am a lover of Ahlul Bayt (the Prophet (SAAW) and his family). I derive my meaning and purpose in life from Allah, Islam, and the Prophet and his successors. I believe Allah ennobled mankind, His most blessed creation, with reason, and that this characteristic defines us and distinguishes us from his other creations. As such, I am an advocate for engaging (even indulging) in my rational faculties. There’s probably nothing I enjoy more than a stimulating intellectual conversation, whether it be about philosophy, history, or something more mundane. While I believe our minds distinguish us from the lower creations, I also know that it is our hearts that give us our humanity. We are not cold, calculating machines. Instead, we experience a breadth of emotions, from joy and ecstasy to sadness to anger. Our hearts are sometimes not rational, though, so must be informed by reason. In my life, I try to understand my heart, to be really in touch with my emotions, reactions, and deep-level beliefs, and try to guide my emotions with my intellect. Human psychology is a great interest of mine, and I am constantly striving to understand what makes me (and everyone around me) tick. Even though I love human psychology and try to understand what makes others tick, I can’t read minds (YET!), hard as I may try. That is why I prefer that my friends be open and honest with me just like I am with them (this often gets me in trouble :P). Also I enjoy having fun and joking around, but BEWARE: I can be corny. Back to understanding my philosophical beliefs… Justice is one of the attributes of Allah (SWT) and the Holy Prophet is the embodiment of justice in mankind. I strive to live a life of justice. This involves three distinct tasks: justice towards my Lord, towards others, and with myself. The first makes me pursue knowledge of the Ultimate Truth and reflect critically on this knowledge to enlighten my spirit and guide my hand. Next is helping others, and ensuring I do not wrong them. Self-justice means pursuing deep understanding of my soul, for the prophet has said “He who knows himself knows his Lord”. I am an explorer at heart. Whether I am seeking out new people to interact with, opportunities to capitalize on, or knowledge to attain, I spend my time exploring the world around me. I do this for three reasons: 1) I have a passion for acquiring new knowledge; 2) I believe I am serving God and humanity because I am building my capacity to change injustice; and 3) I love the thrill of exploring. Grappling with new experiences, reconciling it with previous information, and gaining wisdom are all part of an exciting and enjoyable process for me. In terms of passion, social justice is the goal I seek. Social and political activism are a core part of my identity. Social activism is fighting for the oppressed in all aspects of society, and is the second calling of all prophets (the first being calling people to worship Allah). Political activism is one of many strategies for achieving social justice and establishing just governance. To sum up who I am: There are a couple of words I use to describe myself. The most important ones, in my mind, are intellectual, honest, sincere, hard-working, compassionate, an overachiever, sometimes impatient (moreso with myself than others), direct (almost to a fault), open to sharing my true beliefs on things (even when people might prefer I lie or play with the truth), open to change and reconsidering my positions, yet committed to my principles, and generally trusting (almost naïve). In addition to describing myself as I see myself, I thought it would be useful to talk about how others have described me. My closest friends call me sincere, blunt, persistent, ambitious, intelligent, serious (though I do like to have fun, in my defense), spiritual, perfectionist, generous, mature (though it’s sort of mixed – more intellectually and morally mature than socially :D), decent cook and loyal.
