I am a convert and because of my conversion to Islam I have not the best connection with my family. I try to keep contact though and avoid certain topics to keep the peace. Because of my conversion I feel often a bit alone in this world. It makes it harder to connect with my family and I am raised as a Belgian, yet my people look often down on me as a convert and islamicly I cannot maintain deep friendships with them because they are involved with bad habits. On the other hand I find other cultures very interesting, yet I do not always feel like I want to behave exactly like them. They, f.e. women, have a total different approach, often more superficial or at least different. Certain values in other cultures don't always resonate with the values I find correct or feel as honest and good. I don't like opportunism, selfishness or manipulation and I always sense it on someone when a person behaves according to these character traits. It gave me my entire muslim life (for 24 years now) already the feeling that I don't belong to any group, which is sad and draws me to take more time on my own. I really need genuine people around me. Alhamdullilah. I have a kid of almost 20 years old who lives parttime with me. He is currently working abroad and comes over now and then. It definitely made me reanalyse my life and that I wouldn't want to live alone like this forever. :) My son is the only muslim family I have and is very important to me. I am also considering to apply for a permanent visa for Australia to live more near nature and beautiful sealife. My dream of a job or activity in this world...to be a sealife rescue diver. Or at least do it as a volunteer. :)
