IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE MOST MERCIFUL, THE MOST COMPASSIONATE Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. My name is Mega. I am 28 years old and live in Indonesia. I work as a manager and have a Diploma 3 qualification. At this stage of my life, I am trying to improve myself and hope to find a life partner through taaruf, a process of getting to know someone with the intention of marriage. I want this process to be honest, clear, respectful, and in line with Islamic values. I am not looking for a relationship just to pass the time or for a relationship without a clear purpose. My intention is to get to know someone who is also serious about marriage, inshaAllah, and to build a family based on faith, responsibility, kindness, and a willingness to grow together. I am still learning and working to become a better person. I value honesty, mature communication, and commitment. I continue to work to support my needs and try to carry out my responsibilities as well as I can. I believe the past is part of life and can teach us important lessons. I want to move forward with greater wisdom, keep improving myself, and build a future with someone who also wants to grow and become better. I choose taaruf because I want to get to know someone for a clear purpose: marriage, not dating without direction or wasting each other’s time. I hope this process will involve respectful communication, honesty about important matters, and boundaries that follow Islamic teachings. If both sides become serious, I am open to involving our families or a trusted person to guide the process. I want to be honest that I have had two dating relationships in the past. One was with someone from India, and the other was with someone from Indonesia. During those relationships, I did not do things that I believe Allah has forbidden. I share this because I want to begin taaruf honestly and not hide something I consider important. I am not sharing it to justify the past. I have learned from those experiences, and now I want to follow a clearer path that reflects my values and has marriage as its goal. I hope a future partner will see me as a whole person, including my past experiences and what I have learned from them, and will consider my readiness to build a future with honesty and responsibility. I once had a serious accident. As a result, about 3 centimetres of my left ring finger was lost. I also injured my leg and the area around my groin, and I could not walk for about two months. After the accident, I had a medical check-up because I experienced vaginal bleeding and was worried that my reproductive organs might have been affected. Alhamdulillah, based on the medical checks I had at that time, my uterus and internal organs were reported to be normal. As far as I know, I do not have a known inherited disease that could be passed on to my children. Alhamdulillah, this experience has not stopped me from returning to my daily activities and work. I share this not to seek pity, but because I want to be honest and allow a future partner to know me fully. If the taaruf process becomes more serious, I am willing to discuss relevant health matters openly and appropriately. My father passed away when I was 10 years old. Alhamdulillah, my mother is currently in good health. I have two older sisters and one older brother. I am the youngest child and the only one among my siblings who is not yet married. I come from a Bugis cultural background in Makassar. In some Bugis families and communities, discussions about *uang panai* and the *mahr* are an important part of preparing for marriage. I respect this tradition, and I would like a future partner to understand that these matters may need to be discussed openly with both families. I believe that *uang panai*, the mahr, and wedding expenses should be discussed respectfully and with consideration for what both sides can afford. I am not setting a specific amount or making demands that have not been discussed. I hope we can speak seriously and wisely with our families so that the wedding preparations are fair and do not place an unreasonable burden on either side. I want a marriage based on commitment, faithfulness, honesty, and shared responsibility. I do not wish to enter a polygamous marriage. I hope to find a partner who shares this view and wants to build a marriage with one wife. I hope my future husband will not smoke or drink alcohol. It is also important to me that he chooses halal food and drinks. I value calm and respectful communication, even when we have different opinions. I believe that both partners should be willing to remind each other of what is good in a kind way, without insulting or looking down on one another. I want major decisions in marriage to be discussed together, while considering our faith, circumstances, responsibilities, and the well-being of our family. I know that I am still learning and improving myself. I hope to continue growing in my understanding and practice of Islam. I would like a partner who is also willing to learn, improve, and remind each other of good things with kindness. To me, marriage is a shared journey to become closer to Allah and fulfil our responsibilities as well as we can. I hope to find someone who is serious about marriage and willing to follow the taaruf process with clear intentions and respectful boundaries. I value a partner who is honest, kind, emotionally mature, responsible, and open to discussion. I hope he tries to fulfil his religious duties and wants to keep improving himself. I hope he does not smoke, does not drink alcohol, and chooses halal food and drinks. I need us to share the same view on monogamy and on not having a polygamous marriage. I hope he is willing to discuss *uang panai*, the mahr, and wedding plans while respecting Bugis customs and the financial ability of both families. I hope he is serious about preparing for family life and is willing to discuss responsibilities in a mature way. I hope he can respect my honesty about the past and focus on honesty, learning, and real efforts to become better. Before making a decision about marriage, I believe it is important for both people to talk honestly about practical matters, such as where we will live after marriage, work and career plans, managing money, family commitments, savings and debts, plans for children, parenting, relationships with extended family, privacy, how to solve disagreements, relevant health matters, and the expected timeline for marriage. I hope the taaruf process will have a clear purpose, respectful communication, and no unnecessary uncertainty or emotional attachment without commitment. I understand that both people need to decide whether they are compatible. If we find that we are not suitable for each other, I hope we can end the process kindly and respect each other’s dignity. I am not looking for a perfect person, because I am still learning too. I hope Allah will guide me to someone who wants us to support each other in doing good, take responsibility, and build a family filled with love and Allah’s mercy. May Allah make this journey easier and guide us towards what is best. Barakallahu fiikum. Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
