This is my least favorite portion of this process - the self-promotion/descriptor portion. Well let the self-inflicted torture begin :)! Bismillah: I am a product of an African American & Belizean union of two convert parents. I grew up as a Muslim, both in the States as well as in the Middle East and Africa (ask me more about these adventures when we speak)! I spent half of my life abroad and can say that it has been an invaluable experience. I highly recommend traveling to anyone who will listen :). Faith: Islam is a critical part of my identity. I won't use this section to toot my own horn as a "Good Muslim" (seems kind of anti-islamic if you ask me). However, I will say that I am looking for a Taraweeh and Fajr buddy! I believe that Islam is so much more than just rituals and should impact your character as well as the way you deal with people. My favorite reminders to myself is that Islam was first focused on character reform before it started with the Halal/Haram items. This is a reminder to never forget that it should go past actions and penetrate the heart, mind, and soul. With that said, I believe in balance, so I would love someone that is equally excited about driving to an islamic conference as they would be about watching Avenger End Games (insert movie of choice here) on the weekend. Family: I come from a large energetic family that is supportive and extremely loving. After faith, family is one of the most important things to me. By that I mean both my family relationships and the relationship my future spouse has with his family. I'm Western but I am heavily influenced by Eastern and African cultures and I believe firmly that you don't just marry a person, you marry their family as well. I pray that whomever Allah has destined for me has a family which has similar beliefs around what marriage entails. Things I Value (not in any particular order): 1. Open Communication 2. Social Consciousness 3. Not being afraid to admit to being incorrect 4. Honesty and Compassion 5. Vulnerability (I think it is very powerful for genuine connections and knowledge of self, it is unfortunate that society sees it as a weakness). 6. Emotional Intelligence 7. Willingness to Improve/change to improve oneself. 8. Someone that gets excited about the prospect of being a husband and father. Race in Islam: I realize this is an unusual section to include in a profile but I figured I would address this from now. It hurts my heart to see the racism (or more accurately the colorism/tribalism) which exists among Muslims today, especially when it comes to selecting a spouse. I won't discuss that the minute we step into the realm of valuing people based on their color we are doing the exact same thing which Shaytaan (the devil) did when he claimed to be better than Adam AS as he was created from fire. May Allah purify our hearts, Ameen. However, that being said, I am also an optimistic pragmatic person and as a Black Muslim woman I want it to be known how I identify ethnically. I would like you to pause at this point and ask yourself honestly -- would an ethnic origin question be the first thing I want to know about a person? If the answer is yes, I think it is highly unlikely we will be compatible. I know being attracted to each other is important, which isn't tied to race. However, if race is a deciding factor for you and not the person’s character and the caliber of who they are, we are on two different mental planes, so let's pray for each other and not waste each other’s time :)! My global up-bringing really has permitted me to see beauty in all ethnicities and cultures, my criteria is do I find "You" attractive and are we compatible on a mental and spiritual plane. If the color of my skin or the texture of my hair are one of the second or third things to pop into your mind...trust me, we probably won’t match. What Friends Say About Me: A proud hijabi that desires to help others and probably could convince a wall to become friends. Passionate about being proud of your Islamic identity and inspiring similar faith-based pride in our youth. Dedicated to her family and willing to go the extra mile for her loved ones. Go with the flow type of person who is spontaneous and is willing to try things once always (as long as they are halal :)). According to my sister, I am a ride and pray type of person ( I never could understand dying for anything but Islam haha). Ask me more, I'm pretty much an open book. If you have gotten this far, congrats!!! You read an entire book :)! I wanted to be sure that you had a general idea of who I was and what I value. If this profile resonates with you, its 2019 we all know what to do; if not, I pray that Allah blesses us both with good, ameen!

Bismillah, A down to earth, god fearing, ambitious, funny, and compassionate man. I am looking for someone who is emotionally ready to be in a committed marriage and recognizes that it will take patience, compassion and compromise on both of our sides to build a loving relationship. Father Material: Ideally, the person I am looking to marry is also someone that understands the importance of being a present and involved dad. I know that women have historically done a lot of the child rearing but children need a partnership and the energy of the father can't be replaced in a home. This is true both for boys and girls, as it is from their dad that our future sons will learn to be men and our daughters will learn how men should treat them. I know this is a huge request and more often then not for many new parents it is a trial and error process. However, at the least, there needs to be a genuine excitement about being present and involved for you kids and learning new parenting techniques. Warnings: I have read a few profiles thus far, and the comment of "obedient" and "submissive" are mentioned. I will start by saying that I understand gender roles in Islam. However, if you haven't come to the realization that life is challenging and you need a wife who will be strong enough to support you during difficult times or when you aren't at your strongest (and vice versa), I don't see a marriage between us working. I pray that Allah grants you what you need, but I am pretty sure it isn’t me. Khadijah is one of the greatest woman in Islam but I think I am more of a Nusaybah! I will be in the battlefield next to you ;). This is just a few thoughts so you can see what is important to me, but ask me more questions if you have them.
